Our day began in Elgin with Rick and Jamie getting ready. As we arrived, it started to rain. Rick and his two younger brothers were waiting in the kitchen. I quickly spotted the perfect location for a shoe shot. It was the old work bench next to the window. “Let me show you Jamie’s altar,” Rick said as he walked me into the spare bedroom. “She wanted to photos.”
As Rick got dressed in the master bedroom, his sister and brother’s pregnant wife arrived. They helped pin the flowers on the groomsmen.
In the meanwhile, Slav worked the bride who was getting ready at her parents’. The family dog laid patiently nearby. The dress was gorgeous.
At 12:30 we were already pulling up to the church. “Standing on the side of love,” the sign read. The building was a converted barn which housed the Prairie Cathedral where the ceremony took place. Natural lighting allowed for beautiful no-flash photography.
We had more than two hours before the ceremony so Slav got the bridal party to gather outside of Villa Olivia for some formal portraits. There was a nice looking gazebo and a fountain which served as an excellent backdrop.
The party room was stunning. Simply, yet tastefully decorated. Lighting was perfect.
We were home by 12AM.
